Burying of the Alleluia

Here's a cool tradition I learned about today. Since the introduction of the "new Mass", the season of Pre-Lent was eliminated from the Church calendar. In its place the Church authorities created a non-season called Ordinary Time which has no precedent in Church history. One of the customs of Pre-Lent was the burial of the Alleluia, where children wrote "Alleluia" on little sheets of paper and put them in a coffin, where the Alleluias were kept until Easter.
